French
As a department, it is our aim to inspire our students and help them to develop a love of language learning, an essential skill in today’s multilingual society. Students who have studied languages will have better career opportunities as employers value the importance of having a language.
Pupils are taught by specialist language teachers and make their option choices in Year 8. For those students who do not choose to continue to study French at GCSE, they will have completed a portfolio of work in Year 8 which will lead to them being awarded the AQA FCSE qualification.
Our current GCSE exam board is Eduqas.
The GCSE course builds on topics the students have studied in KS3 as well as introducing new themes such as social issues and enterprise.
